My STEM Workbooks Trilogy
The trilogy of My STEM Workbooks, Years 1 to 6, is a collection of project-based learning (PBL) activities for primary students. The PBL activities focus on eight United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They are:
- Zero Hunger (Goal 2)
- Health and Well-being (Goal 3)
- Clean Water and Sanitation (Goal 6)
- Affordable and Clean Energy (Goal 7)
- Sustainable Cities and Communities (Goal 11)
- Climate Action (Goal 13)
- Life Below Water (Goal 14)
- Life on Land (Goal 15)
Each workbook addresses the same eight SDGs, but the activities cover different aspects of the SDG. All PBL activities – “Challenges” – are aligned with the Australian Curriculum (Version 9). Challenges address a number of content descriptors of the Australian Curriculum for each year level. My STEM Workbooks holistically integrate the curriculum areas of Science, Design and Technologies, and Mathematics.
Students work individually and/or collaboratively and apply their creative and critical thinking skills to propose a solution. The steps within this design process are Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create and Improve. Students are then asked to reflect on the activity and its outcomes.
