Design and Technology in Today’s World: A First Look includes Activities to help teach New Zealand primary school students the foundational principles of design and technology. The activity sheets contain a range of activities: individual research, small-group task(s) and/or classroom discussion.
The classroom discussion activities are an opportunity to broaden the scope of the topic. They also provide a platform to address students’ related interests. Teachers may adjust the topics and the scope of activities to suit different year levels and class needs.
Design and Technology in Today’s World: A First Look activity sheets explore the strand, ‘Design and Technologies: Processes and Production Skills’ as outlined in Years 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6 bands of the New Zealand Curriculum: Design and Technologies.
